The Company

Text2Insure was founded in 2004 by two entrepreneurs – Nicholas Thurlow and Malcolm McLean.

Our technology and business process provides a simple but effective way for prospective customers to obtain a quote and cover for simple insurance products by using existing mobile phone SMS text capability and WAP.

We currently have applications for travel, motor and claims but are constantly looking to extend our product portfolio and broaden our partnership base.

The Market

The emergence of SMS as a communication and latterly transactional channel has been exponential.. Industry estimates project that UK users will soon be sending over 100 million texts each day. As mobile becomes an ever increasing part of all our lives we see an opportunity to provide an ever increasing number of consumers with a simple and effective way to transact simple insurance.

Research* by Text2Insure reveals that 8.59 million people with mobile phones would consider buying insurance via a text messaging service and that 4.99 million expect to have done this over the next three years.

*795 mobile phone users were interviewed by market research company TNS between 20th and 22nd May 2005

Our Vision

For the Text2Insure process to become the preferred way (for mobile phone users) to obtain ‘quote, cover and reassurance ’ for simple insurance products. We are constantly working to develop and enhance our proposition to ensure that the our service is not just accessible but can be delivered in the way individual mobile users prefer.

Management Team

Nicholas Thurlow – (Co-Founder) Director - Marketing
• 12 years experience in international advertising and marketing agencies with a further 10 years expertise in front line commercial roles working with major FTSE 100 customers and partners. Founded and developed a leading edge software business, focussed on the financial services market. More recently Nicholas has held executive board responsibility for marketing and commercial development within software and outsourcing businesses.

Malcolm Mclean – (Co-Founder) Director - Operations
• Formerly Managing Director of a successful Internet affinity marketing business and with 7 years experience in the design and delivery of interactive Internet applications.
Malcolm has extensive experience of negotiating and delivering strategic partnerships with commercial and affinity partners both in the public and corporate sectors.
